Nonmetals: C, N, O, F, P, S, Cl

→ Often form negative ions or covalent bonds

Semimetal (Metalloid): Si

→ Has properties of both metals and nonmetals

Metal: Al

→ A typical metal

Noble Gases: He, Ne, Ar

→ Full outer shell, very stable

Special Case: H

→ Does not fit well into any group
